LSK8 Design Vol.2 / Pt3：3枚目のデザインを描いてみました

After a busy stretch at work, I’m finally getting back to the LSK8 project next week. I’ve just finished the third design: it features a Hawaiian surf vibe with a TikiGirl character as the centerpiece. I chose a clear deck tape to highlight the texture of the board itself.

Now the fun part begins—deciding which design to go with!

しばらく仕事が建て込んでいたので、LSK8の作業が滞っていましたが、来週ぐらいから作業を再開できそうです。

そして、3枚目のデザインを描いてみました。デッキテープはクリアにして素材感を出し、全体のグラフィックはTikiGirlのキャラクターを起用したハワイアンサーフデザインです。

さてさて、どのデザインにしようかなぁ?

LSK8 Design Vol.2/Pt2

This time, I developed a new design while keeping in mind the flat graphic style used previously. To ensure the message is easily readable when the board is standing, I adopted a vertical layout.

The deck tape on the fore side is separated, with the studio logo placed at the center. The overall atmosphere is inspired by fabric designs from the 1970s, aiming to evoke a sense of nostalgia while maintaining a modern impression.

今回は、前回のフラットデザイン調のグラフィックを意識しながら、新たなデザインを考えてみました。ボードを立てた際にメッセージが自然に目に入るよう、縦長のレイアウトを採用しています。 フォア面のデッキテープはセパレートにし、中央にはスタジオのロゴを配置するプランです。全体の雰囲気としては、1970年代のファブリックデザインを思わせるようなテイストを意識しました。懐かしさとモダンさが共存するような印象を目指しています。

So I gave it a shot and created this visual!

Day 2 of Rally Hokkaido!

Today I was working on sound operations in Ashoro (Pausé Kamuy). The morning went smoothly, but the afternoon brought scorching heat and clouds of dust. Still, I managed to sketch a quick scene from the venue during a short break.

I’ve been up since 2:30 AM, and even now at 8 PM, I haven’t made it back to the hotel yet. Tomorrow will be another long day—starting with sound setup at the Ikeda Super SS, then heading to the Kita-Aikoku Exchange Plaza for the ceremonial finish and awards ceremony.

Looking forward to another exciting day ahead!

ラリー北海道2日目。今日は足寄(パウセカムイ)で音響仕事していました。

午前中は良かったのですが、午後は灼熱と砂ぼこり。それでも休憩時間に1枚だけ会場の様子を描きました。

朝2時半起きで20時の今もまだ宿に戻れず…。

明日は池田スーパーSSの音響セッティングしてから北愛国交流広場に移動し、セレモニアルフィニッシュと表彰式の音響仕事やります。

明日も長い一日になりそうだ!!

I want to be boarding!!

It’s supposed to be cooler this week with all the rain, right?

But nope—thanks to the humidity, even the tiniest bit of trapped heat turns me into a walking sweat fountain.

I’ve been trying to stay active by riding my LSK8 on the weekends for some off-season snowboard training. It’s fun, sure—but let’s be honest, it doesn’t come close to the rush of carving through untouched backcountry snow on a BC board. That feeling? Pure bliss.

Honestly, hot weather just makes me crave snowboarding even more.

Who needs summer when you could be flying down a mountain?

今週は雨が続いて涼しい?

はずなのに、湿気が多いとちょっとした熱こもりでも汗が出てくる。

できるだけ週末にはスノボのオフトレでLSK8乗ってるんですが、やはり雪原を一気に駆け抜けるBCボードには到底爽快さが及びません。

あぁ～あ〜暑い時にこそ、スノボ行きたいなぁ～

Just Doodlings

I started doodling two random lines, and somehow, they began to look like a fox. 

So I just went with it. Before I knew it, I had drawn a few more—each one with its own little charm. It was surprisingly fun! Then I began to imagine where they might live, and of course, a forest came to mind. That led me to sketch some trees, and now I find myself wanting to observe a real forest up close. Funny how a couple of lines can take you on a whole little adventure.

特に意味もなく線を2本描いていたらキツネに見えてきたので、そのまま描きし進めてみた。なんだかちょっと楽しくなってきたので、何匹が描いてみた。住んでいるところ想像したら林を描きたくなった。

なんだか森を観察したくなってきた。

LSK8 Design Pt4

I've been working on a full-scale template for the Pt4 design, thinking I might go with it. But now I'm back to sketching again because:

1) I want to add more detail to the artwork,

2) I feel like it needs some bold English lettering, and

3) I figured—why not include the blog title too?

It’s not work, so I’m taking my time and enjoying the process.

実は、Pt4のデザインを採用しようかと思って、原寸大の型紙を作っていたのですが、

①絵柄をもう少し細かくしたい。

②英文字のワイドが欲しい。

③どうせならこのブログのタイトルを載せたい。

と言うことで、再びデザインのラフ作業に戻りました。

まぁ仕事ではないし、ゆっくり決めていこうと思います。

LSK8 Design pt3

Still in progress, but the idea’s coming together.I sketched a scene of gliding through winter fields on a longboard with a spirit board setup.

Copy:
Split with spirit. Fields, not limits. Ride infinite.

The deck is natural maple wood. I’m planning to burn the lines in with a pyrography pen, layer in color with acrylics, and seal it all with a clear coat.

まだ決定ではないけど、少し具体的にアイデアを詰めてみました。

ロングスケートボードにスピリットボードで冬のフィールドを滑り抜ける様子を描いてみました。

コピーは "Split with spirit. Fields, not limits. Ride infinite."
「スプリットにゾッコン! フィールドに限界はない。思うがままに駆け抜けろ!」です。

板はメイプルのナチュラルウッドなので、バーニングペンで線を描き、アクリル絵の具で色を入れ、最後にクリアのコーティング仕上げをしようかと考えています。

Yakisoba RunRun

Finally made it to "Yakisoba Runrun" a spot I can only visit on weekdays.It’s been a while, so I couldn’t hide my excitement!
My go-to order: yakisoba rice topped with a fried egg.
This place never disappoints. The yakisoba here is just unbeatable!!!!

平日休みじゃないとなかなか行けない「焼きそば ランラン」へ。
しばらく行けてなかったのでワクワクが止まりません。
焼きそばライスに目玉焼き乗せは私の定番。
やっぱりここの焼きそばは美味いなぁ～。

Hiking and Sketching on Mt. Tarumae

Walking along Mt. Tarumae, I kept spotting wintergreen everywhere. It felt like the trail was sprinkled with tiny pearls.

and spotted some adorable red berries peeking out between all the white wintergreen leaves! Felt like a lucky find. Still a bit early to eat—just waiting for them to turn darker.

樽前山を歩くといたるところにシラタマノキが。登山道に真珠が散りばめられているようでした。

そして、たくさんのシラタマノキの合間に可愛らしい赤い実が。なんとなく得したような気分になります。まだちょっと早いんでもう少し黒みがかって来たら食べれんだけどなぁ～

After Tokyo Art Tour 2025 Pt1

Finally made it back home this morningWhat a journey! Feeling pretty wiped out, but now it's time to unpack and sort through all the photos and videos. Looks like I snapped close to 300 shots!
Every time I think, “This should be enough reference material for a while,” I end up heading out again once I start creating. The cycle continues!

今朝やっと帰宅できました。流石に疲れましたね～。
旅の後片付けしつつ、写真や動画の整理。写真は300枚近く撮ったようです。
コレでしばらくは作品用の資料は間に合うなぁ～って毎回思うんですが、描く段階になると新たに取材することになるんだよなぁ～。

Tokyo Art Tour 2025 [Day03]

Final day of our Tokyo art tour with the seminar group — totally free time for everyone.I headed to Yokohama around noon, took the Sea Bass for a scenic ride, wandered around the Red Brick Warehouse, and then explored Chinatown.
After that, I strolled through Porter’s and Queen’s Square before heading back to Yokohama Station and catching the bus to Haneda.
…but my flight got delayed twice, and I ended up arriving in Chitose past 11pm — missed the last train and unexpectedly had a Day 4 in Chitose.
Well, every trip comes with a few surprises. That’s part of the fun, right?

ゼミの東京アートツアーDay3(最終日)。
今日は全員完全に自由行動です。
私は昼頃から横浜へ行き、シーバス乗って赤レンガ倉庫をブラリ歩き、そのまま中華街へ。その後はポーターズ〜クイーンズスクエアで横浜へ戻りYCATで羽田へ。
が、飛行機がディレイ2回で結局千歳に着いたのが23時を過ぎ、最終列車を逃したため、まさかの千歳でDay4になってしまいました。
まぁ旅にはハプニングが付きモノ。

Tokyo Art Tour 2025 [Day02]

Day 2 of our Tokyo Art Tour with the seminar group.Started the morning with a simple but delicious udon breakfast in Aomonoyokocho.
Spent the morning at Shinagawa’s Aqua Park. some students in the front row got totally soaked during the dolphin show!

In the afternoon, I split off from the group and went on a sketch walk from Shinagawa to Tennozu with Mr. Honda from Jilla. So many inspiring spots to draw.
We could’ve stayed out there all day.

今朝は少し早起きして青物横丁のうどん店で朝食。シンプルですがモチモチで美味しかったです。
午前中は品川のアクアパークへ。イルカショーでは数名が最前列で思いっきり水をかぶっていました。
午後は学生たちと別れ、Jillaの誉田さんと品川〜天王洲でスケッチ散歩。描きたくなるスポット満載でした。

Tokyo Art Tour 2025 [Day01]

Day 1 of our Tokyo Art Tour with the seminar group!Started early from Chitose, then spent the afternoon exploring the National Museum of Nature and Science.
After that, we joined a special tour of Ueno Tōshō-gū led by Mr. Honda from Jilla.
Wrapped up the day at Tokyo Skytree.
We soaked in Tokyo all the way past 10 PM!

今日はゼミの東京アートツアーのDay01。
朝早くに千歳を発ち、昼から上野の国立科学博物館を見学。その後はJillaの誉田さんプレゼンツの上野東照宮ツアー。素晴らしい彫刻などについてお話していただきました。夕方からは東京スカイツリーへ行き、最新のインフォメーション・デザインを見学し夜10時過ぎまでドップリ東京を楽しみました!

LSK8 in Toyohira Riverside Pt1

Took a rare weekday off and headed out with KazNee for a cruise down the Toyohira riverside slope. Just the two of us, soaking in the ride.

The slope? Perfect. Great angle, nice length—smooth and satisfying.

But here’s the catch: no shade, and the sun was relentless. That ideal slope came with full-on direct sunlight and nowhere to hide.

So, two seasoned riders set the 120-minute timer and called it a day. Solid session, just enough to feel alive without melting.

久々の平日休みにKazNeeと二人で豊平河川敷スロープでクルージン！

気持ちいい斜度と長さ！

が、しかし、ちょうどえぇスロープは良いのですが、直射日光！隠れるところがない！

高齢者2人は120分タイマーで終了でした。

Human sketches @ Mister Donut

It’s crazy hot outside, so I escaped to somewhere cool.Ended up at a café I used to go to a lot about 20 years ago — even grabbed my old favorite seat.
Had an old-fashioned donut and some coffee, and started sketching.
Next thing I knew, two hours had flown by.

外はうだるような暑さ。こんな日は涼しい場所に避難するに限る。
久々に20年ほど前によく通っていたこの店の、20年前に良く座っていた席に座ってオールドファッションとコーヒー食しながらドローイング。

Hiking and Sketching on Mt. Teine

It’s Mountain Day in Japan, so I went for a hike from Heiwa-no-Taki up to Mt. Teine.Took my time going up and coming down—just soaking in the forest vibes.

Sketched a few wildflowers along the way and thought I’d share them here.

今日は山の日だったので、久々に平和の滝から手稲山に登って来ました。

ゆっくり登ってゆっくり降りて。
久々に森林浴を満喫しました。
野花をいくつか描いたのでアップします。

pocket size sketchbook

I finally got my hands on a Talens sketchbook in pocket size. I’ve been using the Moleskine watercolor flip-style for years, but it’s become incredibly hard to find—and absurdly expensive. So I’m switching to this as an alternative. It lacks embossing and doesn’t offer much character as paper, but I guess I’ll just have to get used to it.

ターレンスの手帳サイズのスケッチブックも手に入れた。ずっとモレスキンの水彩フリップタイプを使っていたのですが、どうやら手に入れるのが難しく、恐ろしく高騰したので、代替品としてコレくぉ使うことにしました。エンボスが無く、紙としての面白さはありません。コチラが慣れるしか無いのでしょう〜。

hardcover sketchbook with LSK8 Design pt2

I finally got myself an 8x11 hardcover sketchbook again. 

I really wanted the Canson hardbound one, but it's not available in Japan

and importing it is way too expensive!

So I settled for the Talens hardbound, which is sold domestically.

It works well with pencil, but for watercolor, I still prefer the texture of Canson.

Still, I had a great time sketching in an open space, sipping coffee, and just relaxing. 

It felt so good to draw again!

久々に8ｘ11のハードカバースケッチブックを買った。本当はCanaonのハードバウンドが欲しかったんですが、日本で売ってない。輸入するとかなり高い!!

仕方なく国内販売しているターレンスのハードバウンドを買いましたが、鉛筆は良い感じに描けますが、水彩はCanson の方がノリがいいなぁ〜。

それでも、久々にオープンスペースでコーヒー飲みながらまったりとドローイングして過ごせました。楽しい!!
